An other interesting use of the Directory which is under investigation at several places is for supporting FTAM servers attributes. The Directory can be used for describing FTAM servers capabilities, service classes, quality of service and so forth. As I expect various flames about FTAM, I consider this as a more larger work which could fit into the Network Information Retrievial activity which has been largely discussed at the last IETF meeting. Some aspects of this (not FTAM-related though) has been already introduced in Steve's document "Representing the Real World in the Directory" (I don't have the OSI-DS number at hand).
