ANNOUNCEMENT
I am pleased to announce a DUA for the X Window System and ISODE 8.0
using the Tcl package. This is a beta release.
FEATURES
Two styles of interaction: browsing, using a navigation window;
and, searching, using the UFN algorithm.
With browsing, you double-click on an entry: if you double-click
with the left button, then any subordinates to that entry are
listed; instead, if you double-click with the right button, then a
new window containing information about that entry will appear.
With searching, you enter the name, organization and
locality/country of the person you're interested in, e.g.,
"rose, dbc, us".
When an entry is displayed, pointer, audio, and image attributes
are available as command buttons. In addition, the UFN algorithm
knows about naming links for organizations and units, and will
follow them according to a user-supplied preference list.

USE OR PERFORMANCE OF THIS SOFTWARE.
AVAILABILITY
There are two distributions: a source and a binary distribution.
The software is available ONLY via anonymous FTP. The instructions
are below. If you do not have FTP-access to the Internet, you are
out of luck -- NO EXCEPTIONS.
You should probably use the source distribution, unless
- you have a SPARCstation 2 running SunOS Release 4.1.1, and
- you don't have the patience to get ISODE 8.0 and Tk 3.2
It is recommended that you use the source distribution, even if the
above two conditions hold. If you retrieve the binary distribution:
# cd /usr/local
# uncompress < fredtcl-sunos4.tar.Z | tar xvpf -
% rehash
% fredtcl
NOTE WELL: the binary distribution contains ISODE run-time
configuration files. If you are already running the ISODE, then
you do NOT want to overwrite your existing files. Use the source
distribution, eh?
