An interesting point.  Changing the subject slightly. How do
the algorithms cope with countries, say german-speaking ones
like Switzerland, where the commonName attribute is written
"surname givenName"?  What about surnames with spaces or
punctuation in them (e.g. "van der Wills")? Making assumptions
about the structure of a purported personal name can produce
some extremely non-optimal queries, which mostly fail altogether
when searching for this kind of target.
