Subject: Re: Government of Canada X.400/SMTP Gateway
I fully agree with Harald objection to the appeareance on the Internet of another non conformant gateway between rfc822 and x.400 (84). Being a service sitting both on Internet and an X.400 MHS, it has an extremely high chance to send/receive messages which crossed already, or will cross in the future before reching their final destination, another rfc822/x.400 gateway. With the current non standard behaviour of the proposed Canadian gateway, this will result in unasable addresses and undelevered or looping reports quite soon. More over, as soon as one of those messages with non standard DDAs generated at the Canadian gateway will reach another main international gateway between the Internet and the X.400 MHS (the Cosine Gateway Serivce), they will, no matter the incoming mail protocol, result in a totally funny and unasable (and unrepliable) address. If this causes serious troubles, we will be forced to remove routing for the mentioned canadian domains, in order to avoid major troubles to the whole Internet and X.400 MHS community. Thus, please, installa an RFC 1327 conformant gateway if you want to provide a real service to your users. Thank you indeed for consideration.
