I understand this temptation ("Note that I haven't got a better answer
..."), but it's a pretty important question.

If this is the right answer, it would be good to designate "some person"
pretty quickly. The alternative is that the choice of "some person", and
community acceptance of /acquiescence in the team result, get discussed at
the same time - if you don't like the team result and think "some person"
likes the team result, you're likely to push back on both.

This probably isn't worse than other ways we've applied the protocol
development process to do non-protocol stuff, I guess.

I agree completely.
