Ole,

You may want to point out to the general reader that IOP was unwilling to
provide its own numbers to the pre-1992 shownet group. If you are keen on
Bill's input, you might want to ask Ziff-Davis management for permission
to supply that data to him. I'm sure that Z-D and Bill can NDA each other,
and that Bill and Z-D can reach some kind of fee agreement.

As to why Bill might want to "replace" your company, I can't even guess,
however, I read his note as implying that funding for the IETF may be
obtained from the NSF (well, perhaps the NREN), or from end-user-paid
activities, of which NetWorld, CommNet, Connectathon, and InterOp, are
all example integrated "vendor/tutorial/pannel" events.

In any event, IOP is not the focus of POISED, back to the main thread...
