You can use IPv6 addresses to identify quantum nodes in the quantum network. That will make it easier to re-use (modified) existing protocols in other parts of the quantum networking stack (e.g. existing routing protocols such as OSPF or ISIS to discover the topology of the quantum nodes and links, existing signaling protocols such as RSVP to setup end-to-end "paths", etc.)

This mistakes IP addresses as solely node identifiers; they alternately can be network endpoint identifiers. A single Internet node can have any number of IP addresses, as can even a single network interface, and the way in which these interact across interfaces varies.

See the “strong vs. weak” discussion in sec 3.3.4.2 of RFC1122. Link identifiers are strong; IP addresses can be either strong or weak - depending on how an endpoint is configured.
