It makes probing awkward, certainly, and if you probe then expect to receive a probe in return, but you can try out other paths if you want to test them out. The problem I have with a non-immediate switch is that I don't know how to write an endpoint if you don't switch at some point. Do you have a proposal for what we would tell the recipient of packets to do?
