I have made this https://github.com/ietf-rats-wg/eat/pull/317/files

It inlines a ref to the section in the CDDL RFC describing what
"socket" means.  It does that right after the term is first introduced
in the document.  I think a hyperlink provides a better UX than a term
(re)defined in a different visual frame.
