A new Request for Comments is now available in online RFC libraries. RFC 9372 Title: L-Band Digital Aeronautical Communications System (LDACS) Author: N. Mäurer, Ed., T. Gräupl, Ed., C. Schmitt, Ed. Status: Informational Stream: IETF Date: March 2023 Mailbox: nils.maeurer@dlr.de, thomas.graeupl@dlr.de, corinna.schmitt@unibw.de Pages: 35 Updates/Obsoletes/SeeAlso: None I-D Tag: draft-ietf-raw-ldacs-14.txt URL: https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc9372 DOI: 10.17487/RFC9372 This document gives an overview of the L-band Digital Aeronautical Communications System (LDACS) architecture, which provides a secure, scalable, and spectrum-efficient terrestrial data link for civil aviation. LDACS is a scheduled and reliable multi-application cellular broadband system with support for IPv6. It is part of a larger shift of flight guidance communication moving to IP-based communication. High reliability and availability of IP connectivity over LDACS, as well as security, are therefore essential. The intent of this document is to introduce LDACS to the IETF community, raise awareness on related activities inside and outside of the IETF, and to seek expertise in shaping the shift of aeronautics to IP. This document is a product of the Reliable and Available Wireless Working Group of the IETF. INFORMATIONAL: This memo provides information for the Internet community. It does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. This announcement is sent to the IETF-Announce and rfc-dist lists.
