Hi Paul

Can you achieve what you want using the "src" attribute of the <sourcecode> element, which points to an external URI? 

	https://authors.ietf.org/en/rfcxml-vocabulary#src-2

I don’t know if this is supported on author-tools given the potential issues but it will work locally.
