Welcome to rfc4082-update.

This list's purpose is to discuss updating rfc4082 in light of current
uses, starting with the ICAO GNSS SBAS Authentication.

The current draft is:

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-moskowitz-tesla-update-gnss-sbas/

In light of discussions with the IESG on setting up this list I will be
changing the draft to something like:

draft-moskowitz-rfc4082-update

The use of 4082 is to lessen any marketing confusion.  Try googling
Tesla.  Now add ietf.  How did it go?

I was part of the IAB trademark discussions back in '97 or there about.
There is no trademark issue here, but perhaps some market presecption.
Since this is really an update to rfc4082, thus the name.  But as a fun
note the oldest draft I can find is:

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-irtf-smug-tesla/

Published 11-17-00 so...

Anyway enough with the naming issues.

========================================

My goal is to take all current work that has expanded on how 4082 works
and incorporate those expansions into an update.  I will then have
Appendices to cover specific uses to show how they align with the body
of the draft.

Right now I only have the work being done in the International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO) in their Global Navigation Satellite System
(GNSS, e.g. US GPS) Satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS)
authentication protocol.

Others are welcome to join in.

I will be working with my co-list maintainer, Sarah Grant to set up a
Github.  I am working with ICAO to get they documents (still drafts)
posted there.  There are also papers that the ICAO work is based on, and
I will work on getting them posted.  Or at least a text file with the
URL(s) of where to get them.

All comments are welcomed.  I will be working on a new draft.  Goal is
the end of the week.  But before end of next week (week of Dec 7 I am
back in Montreal for the ICAO Trust Framework Panel). So I want an
updated draft here to feed into my TFP contributions.

Thank you for joining.

Robert Moskowitz
