It does not matter whether you are in wired or wireless network.

Devices will have at least two codecs and people can choose anyone without
being afraid of quality and the calls will not fail.

You seem to be assuming there are 2 separate networks with separate use
cases.

If I use my android device over wifi to a base station that is connected
over DSL to talk to my office, am I a wireless user or a wired one? What if
I continue the session as I walk out of the house and the device switches to
3g ?
