And do you believe that avoiding MTI privative codecs an IETF spec
will force the corporate lawyers at browser vendors to drop their
interest in using privative codecs?

I'm not proposing that browsers MUST NOT implement non-open-and-free
codecs, but just that those codecs MUST NOT be MTI given their nature.
