I'm hearing that many would prefer to describe the capabilities required to
mount an attack, rather than the kind of attacker involved.

Going with Jon's suggestion that we have Active *In*-Path ... Access?
      "AIP" vs "AOP", but that omits the trailing "A"

I sure like ABBA as a concept, and the wording.
