Dear Colleagues,

The IEEE 802.3 Industry Connections Ethernet Bandwidth Assessment Ad hoc completed its charter at the IEEE 802 July Plenary, as its assessment report was approved by the IEEE 802.3 Working Group. The assessment is publicly available for download at http://www.ieee802.org/3/ad_hoc/bwa/BWA_Report.pdf. Please note that a supporting tutorial presentation was given during the week of the IEEE 802 July Plenary, and is available for download at http://www.ieee802.org/802_tutorials/2012-07/BWATutorial_D1_12_0716.pdf.

Based on the findings, a new Industry Connections Higher Speed Ethernet Consensus Ad Hoc has been formed The purpose of the IEEE 802.3 Industry Connections Higher Speed Ethernet Consensus activity will be to build consensus for initiating a new effort targeting the next speed of Ethernet for wireline applications. This consensus will be used for the evaluation and possible development of a Call-For-Interest for the next IEEE 802.3 Higher Speed Study Group. The group's first meeting was held on September 23, 2012 at the IEEE 802.3 Interim meeting in Geneva, CH. Further information about this meeting and the ad hoc can be found at http://www.ieee802.org/3/ad_hoc/hse/public/index.html.

Participation in the ad hoc is open to all. To subscribe to the ad hoc's reflector, please see http://www.ieee802.org/3/ad_hoc/bwa/reflector.html.

Best Regards,

John D'Ambrosia
Chair, IEEE 802.3 HSE Consensus Ad Hoc
