I think the implementations and deployments have significantly progressed since that draft started.

We have written down some of this experience implicitly (e.g. it is the
motivation for some choices in draft-timbru-sidrops-publication-server-bcp-01).

Does it make sense to write down those lessons learned more explicitly as a
first step if we want to take a fresh look at a replacement?
