Yes, I definitely don't want to depend on the weatherconditions when using the 
dryer. But actually there is no need for that. E.g. in Danmark they have 20% 
of their energy from willmills. Surplus energy which is produced in peak 
times is used to operate pumps in hydropower station in Norway to basically 
store the energy for later use. That really makes sense to me and doesn't 
involve the home user's dryer.

Btw. the first step to save energy in a residential home would be a good 
isolation and a modern heating.
