Exactly.  The current situation is that random SMTP servers take it upon
themselves to "correct" messages which are being relayed through them.

I was hoping that adding SUBMIT/RELAY to MAIL FROM (or even a different
port) would improve the situation, so that messages which are being
relayed would be so marked, and SMTP servers would stop mucking with
them.  Messages which are being submitted could be mucked with as much
as the submission handler wished.
