Karl et al,

I do recall that there was a flurry of e-mail on this subject
about 2 years ago or so, and I do believe the msgs were
archived.

I think that this may be a good time to revive that discussion,
(although the snmp mail groups may or may not be appropriate),
in that, those of us with auto-topology functionality in
our managers that is based (at least in part) on GET requests,
will find that it will probably not work on SNMPv2 agents
due to the security aspects.

I, for one, would like to see the discussions revived, but
the appropriate forum needs to be determined.
