I tend to agree with Ted
changing the source IP address in most of the case implies a different path
(i.e. some or all different middle-boxes in the path towards the destination)


using the source sockaddr_in would mean inserting the actual ip address in SPUD
and then making easy for the rest of the path figure it out when you are behind a NAT
