Perhaps you do not realize how we spell `authorize' over here
(see, for example, `"-ize" vs "-ise"' in
http://www.lib.ox.ac.uk/internet/news/faq/archive/alt-usage-english-faq.html)?

There are, however, ~30 common verbs which `we' spell -ise.
Oxford Univ. Press, for one, prefers (legal) `ize' endings.
I would have thought that the N.American or `Oxford'-style
spelling would be most favoured by the readership, i.e. most
transparent and thus enabling one to get to the information
rather than using their time analySing the literary style.
