Hi all,

I will be attending remotely. But, I would like feedback on the draft. The
changes are minor, but important. This would be an opportunity to clarify
any language that was confusing to those that have implemented the draft
(which I * think* is a lot of folks). I re-reviewed it from that context,
but I don't see anything that would need updating other than very, very
minor editorial points. But, even some of those are actually based on old
grammar rules (e.g., "to" at the end of a sentence),

While the changes are minor, they are important for future developers and
for folks that want the correct ATIS reference. SIP Forum has an agreement
with ATIS that they can host ATIS documents on their website, so that was
deemed the best solution for finding the versions of the documents in
effect at the time the RFC is published.

I would appreciate comments, in particular whether you think we should move
forward with this -bis.

Thanks,
Mary.

Hi all,

This draft fixes the errata in RFC 8588 wrt the quotes around iat. It also
updates the reference to the ATIS document to a more stable link on the SIP
Forum website.

Regards,
Mary

Internet-Draft draft-barnes-stir-8588bis-00.txt is now available.

Title: Personal Assertion Token (PaSSporT) Extension for
Signature-based Handling of Asserted information using toKENs (SHAKEN)
   Authors: Chris Wendt
            Mary Barnes
   Name: draft-barnes-stir-8588bis-00.txt
   Pages: 8
   Dates: 2025-07-22

Abstract:

This document extends the Personal Assertion Token (PASSporT), which
is a token object that conveys cryptographically signed information
about the participants involved in communications. The extension is
defined based on the "Signature-based Handling of Asserted
information using toKENs (SHAKEN)" specification by the ATIS/SIP
Forum IP-NNI Task Group. It provides both (1) a specific set of
levels of confidence in the correctness of the originating identity
of a call originated in a SIP-based telephone network as well as (2)
an identifier that allows the Service Provider (SP) to uniquely
identify the origin of the call within its network.
