Anyone who's looked at the storm WG charter page on the IETF web
site recently has probably noticed that the schedule of activity
(goals/milestones) has lost touch with reality - it took us a lot
longer to get the WG started than expected. The set of goals/
milestones on the IETF web site are about to be replaced with the
following more realistic set of dates:

Nov 2009 First version of FCIP protocol number and iFCP
Address
				Translation mode draft
Nov 2009 First version of iSCSI SAM-4 (and other) new
features
				draft.
Nov 2009 First version of RDDP MPA startup change draft
Nov 2009 First version of combined iSCSI draft (3720bis)
Dec 2009 First version of iSER update draft
Jan 2010 Working Group Last Call on FCIP protocol number
and iFCP
				address change draft
Feb 2010 Working Group Last Call on RDDP MPA startup
change draft
Apr 2010 Working Group Last Call on iSER update draft
May 2010 Functionally complete iSCSI SAM-4 (and other)
new features
draft, plus iSCSI MIB update draft
Jul 2010 Working Group decision on whether to seek Draft
Standard
RFC status for the combined iSCSI
draft (3720bis).
				[Note: decision may be made
significantly before
				this date.]
Sep 2010 Working Group Last Call on iSCSI SAM-4 (and
other) new
				features draft
Oct 2010 Working Group Last Call on combined iSCSI draft
(3720bis)
Dec 2010 Working Group Last Call on iSCSI MIB update
draft

The initial Nov 2009 dates are after the draft submission window reopens
at the Hiroshima IETF meeting (window for -00 drafts will close next
Monday, October 19th and re-open on Monday, November 9th). The charter
text itself is also being updated, as what is posted was apparently an
earlier draft than what was finally submitted to (and approved by) the
IESG.

Most of the drafts listed above are in preparation (or at least
planning).
If you're interested in contributing, here's a list of whom I believe
the
responsible draft authors are (in most cases where only one person is
listed, there are co-authors, but I've listed the person who's working
on the actual draft text0:

(1) Combined iSCSI draft (3720bis):
	- Mallikarjun Chadalapaka [cbm -at- chadalapaka.com]
(2) iSCSI SAM-4 (and other) new features draft:
	- Frederick Knight [Frederick.Knight -at- netapp.com]
(3) & (4) FCIP protocol number and iFCP Address Translation mode draft:
	- David Black [black_david -at- emc.com]
(5) RDDP MPA changes draft:
	- Arkady Kanevsky [arkady.kanevsky -at- gmail.com]
	- Tom Talpey [ttalpey -at- microsoft.com]
(6) iSER changes draft:
	- Mike Ko [Michael -at- huaweisymantec.com]
	- Alex Nezhinsky [nezhinsky -at- gmail.com]

Anyone who thinks they're going to submit a -00 version of a storm WG
draft (i.e., draft-ietf-storm-*-00.txt) before the window closes on
Monday needs to send an email saying so to Tom and myself (WG chairs)
ASAP.

There are still opportunities - at least items (2) and (4) are expected
to require MIB updates, so we (WG chairs) are looking for people willing
to work on drafts that update existing MIBs. Some familiarity with MIB
tools is a prerequisite as a MIB *must* pass syntax checks before it's
submitted as an Internet-Draft. At least the item (4) MIB work should
be fairly easy as it consists almost entirely of marking selected
existing MIB elements as deprecated.

Please contact the WG chairs if you're interested in storm MIB work:
	- David Black [black_david -at- emc.com]
	- Tom Talpey [ttalpey -at- microsoft.com]

Thanks,
--David
