By IDN support, do you mean EAI mail with UTF-8 on both sides of an e-mail address, or just
IDNs in URLs and the like?

If you mean the former, RFC 6783 offers some advice but nowhere near enough.

The old rule of thumb that the first 90% of the work takes the first 90% of the
time, and then the other 90% of the work takes the other 90% of the time
definitely applies here.
