Some time back, we had an almost-acrimonious discussion here
regarding taxation and purchase protocols.

Whether you like it or not, that discussion may be about to
return, via the Streamlined Sales Tax Project.

Quite simply, it looks like the idea of online ordering as
a way to avoid some taxes is not going to fly. The good news
would seem to be that the legislative initiatives are designed
to *reduce* the complexity of the sales tax situation, rather
than simply declare that 'taxes must be collected' without
regard for the difficulty of implementation.
