As a national R&E network operator, we already see some universities obtaining LIR status and a /32 (/29) from the RIPE NCC.  So they then have as much space as we do, but we’ll route that /32 or the /48 or whatever we assign them regardless.

The downside is then potentially 160 routes for Janet rather than 1.

There is also already interest in some of our universities and research organisations in removing IPv4 where they can, so Jen’s work is really interesting to them. The biggest R&E community, the CERN experiment infrastructure, has been working towards IPv6-only for some time; over 97% of the storage is now IPv6-enabled, so the option to take part IPv6-only (without translation) may be close. 

I’ve heard interest in PD-to-devices too, but as was said in Prague that model is still some way from being something you’d use in production on a campus.
