Strange for sure. This is why I always disliked ISP-provided “router”.
Typically, I ask the ISP for bridge mode, and then I use my own real router
with a full routing stack (and IPv6, of course).

I've never found a consumer CPE that is truly "good option for a normal
person to not have problems".
