I think the reason that people feel so strongly about it is that they feel
that we as a community can do better than that, and that if we don't strive
to do better than that now, the cumulative effect of operational
familiarity with the old system, lack of developer familiarity, and buggy
implementations  will make it so that the new system cannot be made any
better than the old.

Also, TLAs were a fundamental change to the model. It wouldn't have worked.
By comparison, not having routing in DHCPv6 is trivial, and we know that it
works (even in enterprises).
