You say it like it is a good thing.

I think it is bad if ISPs can read access logs without the user's consent.
The IETF should stay far from that.

Of course, it possible the current CPE logs don't have privacy sensitive
data. If my ISP would like to look at my VDSL pamameters then that wouldn't
concern me.

As soon as it becomes names of sites I visit or IP address I visit, or client
devices I have, it becomes an issue.
