As part of the clarification, it should be noted that 1985-04-12 is illegal.

Section 4.3 already states that: "only the basic format is supported", but 
from the example date 1985-04 (which is basic format, as Markus explained) one 
could incorrectly assume that yyyy-mm-dd is also allowed.
