It is different, but like those other things it isn't free.
Which brings up a question.

Right now it costs individual participants money to
attend in person - registration fees, travel costs,
hotels, etc.  But remote partipation costs are picked
up by the organization, which pays for audio streaming
and to provide Jabber server maintenance.  I've certainly
taken advantage of the free stuff and appreciated it a
lot, and I think it helps keep the IETF relatively
open.  Is free remote participation something that the
organization wants to preserve?
