CALL FOR PAPERS EWSDN 2014: 3rd European Workshop on Software Defined Networks http://ewsdn.eu 1-3 September 2014 in Budapest, Hungary. IMPORTANT DATES . Paper registration: 5 May 2014 . Paper submission: 10 May 2014 . Notification of acceptance: 1 July 2014 . Camera ready papers due: 1 August 2014 . Conference dates: 1-3 September 2014 SYNOPSIS AND GOAL Software Defined Networking is undoubtedly one of the chief trends in the ICT area. In the past years we have seen all big players in the networking arena starting to ride the SDN. Standardization work is actively ongoing in the Open Networking Forum (ONF), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) (e.g., I2RS, freshly formed Service Function Chaining (SFC) workgroup or recent initiatives to form VNFPool), while the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) just released several group specifications on Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). On top of the several existing open-source SDN controllers, OpenDaylight reached significant momentum last year and arrived to its first official release in February 2014. One goal of the workshop is to bring together industry and academia on the topics of SDN; in particular the workshop will feature an "industry forum", i.e., a session with presentations of key industrial players. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WORKSHOP We are interested in both papers showing consolidated results and in position papers bringing up innovative ideas. Topics for contributions include, but are not limited to, the following: - Virtualization architectures - Forwarding abstractions, APIs, object models - Network Function Virtualization and SDN, network virtualization techniques - Optical extensions to OpenFlow, SDN - Wireless integration, characterization of wireless interfaces, flows, handover support - Evolved packet core, LTE support for OpenFlow - New controller architectures, APIs and northbound interfaces - Interoperation of cloud architectures and SDN - New switch architectures supporting SDN - New networking paradigms like Information Centric Networks (ICN) and relation to SDN - Security implications of SDN and security enhancements to SDN, as well as new security services enabled by SDN - Carrier-grade SDN architectures and equipment - Practical experiments on SDN/Cloud/OpenFlow - Testbeds - Identification of use cases for SDN, SDN related business models, strategic role of SDN in network evolution - Regulatory aspects around network virtualization - SDN frameworks and tools, SDN based equipment: controllers, switches, integrated development environment, testing and debugging environment. SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION Submission format is IEEE Conference Style, A4 format, of up to 6 pages. Please use standard IEEE conference proceedings templates. EWSDN submission will be managed using the EasyChair submission system, check the web for the submission link. EWSDN Workshop Proceedings will be submitted for indexing and publication to IEEE Xplore. COMMITTEE AT A GLANCE General Chair: Hagen Woesner, BISDN, Berlin, Germany TPC Co-Chairs: Holger Karl,University Paderborn, Paderborn, Germany Robert Szabo, Ericsson, Hungary Publicity Chairs: Stefan Schmid, TU Berlin / Telekom Innovation Laboratories, Germany Pontus Sköldström, Acreo AB, Sweden Demo and Exhibition Chair: Balazs Sonkoly, BME, Hungary Workshop Operations Chair and Web Chair: Mario Druse, EICT, Germany
