Yeah, nothing like having your phone screen time out and then having to fumble with the unlock while trying to give a talk. I think the phone control will work fine for some people, but the clicker is simply the superior interface for this particular use case. Having a dedicated device for running the slides (or some existing device that has the clicker HID pinned to the slides) that the chair can pass control off to seems pretty ideal.
