Apropos of my previous message: "Efforts of IETF Working Groups are focused around Internet-Drafts (I-Ds). For a Working Group to formally work on an I-D, it first needs to officially adopt it." Please change to: "Efforts of IETF Working Groups are focused around Internet-Drafts (I-Ds). If a WG wants to take on an individual's I-D as a WG work item, it often issues a 'call for adoption'." Then strike, "For example, I-Ds authored by individuals are often initially considered as starting points from which the Working Groups can proceed." You can then explained in the numbered list that the datatracker does the automated message (that soon will be customizable; yay!) and strike the "Start an adoption call on the mailing list" section. pr -- Pete Resnick https://www.episteme.net/ All connections to the world are tenuous at best On 10 Oct 2025, at 10:22, Greg Wood wrote: > Hi Marco! > > Thanks very much for making the suggestion. > > I’ll definitely look to update this (and other) pages on the chairs > wiki to match the current state of Datatracker (and see about ways > with the Tools team to keep the chairs wiki and Datatracker in sync > more generally). > > FWIW, the WG Adoption template and other info [2[ were posted > previously based on previous feedback, so ongoing suggestions are > definitely encouraged. > > Best, > > -Greg > > [2] https://chairs.ietf.org/documents/i-d-adoption > >> On Oct 10, 2025, at 08:33, Marco Davids (IETF IMAP) >> <marco.davids=40sidn.nl@dmarc.ietf.org> wrote: >> >> Hi all (and Greg Wood in particular), >> >> I just noticed that there might be some room for improvement on: >> >> https://chairs.ietf.org/documents/i-d-adoption >> >> Among other things, that page includes an email template for starting >> an adoption call on the mailing list. >> >> However, I recently realised that the Datatracker has improved a lot >> over the years and now actually does a much better job than sending >> emails manually. >> >> When the WG State[1] of a document is changed, beautiful, >> well-formulated emails are sent out to the list automatically. >> >> Perhaps the above page could be updated to reflect this? >> >> [1] https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/help/state/draft-stream-ietf/ >> >> -- >> Marco >> RPP WG co-chair >>
