This has been around since the dawn of our use of mailman.
It is likely that just fewer people are on the lists you run who cause bounces.

It's generally, a 5xx bounce.  More than one.
I had to stop using one contracted out spam filtering company because they
insisted upon 5xx replies, and I got kicked off EVERY IETF mailing list
within a few days.

That likely means that the employee was removed from the companies' database.
