Jay, *:

My 22 cents (inflation).

Please Let the chat be as it is and DO NOT create additional IETF wide restrictions/changes to it.
Instead, let WGs experiment more with its integration based on e.g.: feedback in this thread.

Steppipng back, i wish author.ietf.org would have a better collection of additional "chair slides"
with collective (or not so collective) wisdom, that chairs can pick and choose from for their WGs.

One of those slides could be about this topic. For my WG, it would be something like this:

  - Agenda and meeting minutes share a single notes.ietf.org page!
This notes page is collaboratively edited. Please help add to it during
    and after the meeting.

  - This notes page has a TODO section at the end. Please add TODO items there.

  - If you are having discussions on the chat, such as a Q&A, whose result you think
should go into the meeting notes, then please add it to the notes page. Mark it
    accordingly with "(from chat)".

  - If you do not transfer useful information from chat to notes, it will be lost.
That is intentional. That's why it is called a chat!

  - If you have any issue that was not resolved during the meeting, please take it to the list!

Cheers
    Toerless

There was a suggestion of explicit pauses in sessions to allow people, particularly presenters, to catch up with the chat but I have no idea how practical that is.
