What issue do you envision?  I could be wrong, but I believe that HTTP Basic
over HTTPS is reasonably secure, and I don't think it violates any IETF
policy.  (Granted, if we expect WHIP to run in cleartext over the public
Internet, then HTTP Basic is too weak.  But I don't think that anyone is
expecting to run WHIP over cleartext except in controlled environments.)
