Subject: DNS experiment status.
Alf, yes, some experiments require a long test-discuss-remake period, expecially if the experiment involves fundamental Internet services liek DNS and then you need to involve in the discussion other groups like the namedroppers and the IAB itself. (mmmh it was Boston, when the idea came out in front of a cup of coffe - incredible, not beer,he?) Actually I now believe we are at the close for experiment phase 1, thus after all the remakes made by all te involved groups we have a stable set of ideas (sorry for the document still being reworded... I've a lot of time in the translatlantic flight tomorrow... and a full set of PB batteries...)... I'd rather suggest this strategy: - publish the current doc (the one in the window below this on my mac!) within a short time (advanced X-mas gift?) - review the list of people taking part in the new implementation phase (this could also be: create an "experimenters" group, more than a WG as in its classical form). - go for revision of the RFC and implementations within one year from publication. I've the feeling that something which touches global services like DNS (and probably LongBud is a similar service) will need to interact always strictly also during preparation with IAB and other relevant groups. Ok, I'll try to give out the paper draft ... on the air, or in the air.. see you! Claudio
