I didn't say "smart frontend". Even the standard input used for
connecting server's ssh subsystem is a frontend (dumb, right). However,
in this case no substitution of defaults happens at the client side and
I would require the poor user to type in all elements&values he wants to
change. In the default merge mode of edit-config it's not an issue
anyway.
