I agree with Juergen, but I don't see what standard vs. vendor knobs
has anything to do with the problem.

I thought there was resolution on this way back when the with-defaults
extension was discussed on the NETCONF/NGO lists.

Most of the time it is okay to get the most terse view of the
config possible (with-defaults=false), but once in awhile,
like when a new device or a new SW version is installed,
it is important to get the entire config, with defaults,
for verification purposes.

Both views need to be supported by a NETCONF agent.
