[Tony saiz:] in very short, do not run subdomains until you start to realize the restrictions of the SI ;-)

To +1 Ice:

* SI is an _automatic_ mechanism that allows to deploy more than BSL BFRs. If you have a single service, are happy with possibly sparse allocation pattern with lots of packets due to SI replication and do not need fancy stuff like restricing links allowing to carry the multicast, it's all you need

* if you're a carrier deploying multiple overlays, services, needing to separate the way BFR-ids are assigned in SIs, need fairness across multiple multicast services, VPN SLAs, separation between data carried on same label for security purposes and other jazzy stuff customers shell $$$ for, you'll find subdomains intriguing and if you run gear by few serious vendors supporting MT IGPs, doubly so ...

In short, if in DC, SIs is probably all you need and subdomain #0, MT #0 will serve your needs ...
