Dear all,

We have submitted a new draft <draft-hou-roll-rpl-parent-selection-00.txt> focused on balancing the parent node selection in the RPL-based networks. 

This draft describes the problems in the DODAG construction of RPL-based networks including Randomly Unbalanced Networking and "Thunder Herd" problem. The corresponding proposals are (1) introducing a new metric/constraint named "Child Node Count" and (2) incrementing the RANK default value.

Abstract:
   This document describes the problems in the DODAG construction of
   RPL-based network including "Thundering Herd" problem and Randomly
   Unbalanced Networking.  The corresponding optimization methods are
   proposed to improve balancing the selection of parent nodes.
