Folks,

As you may have seen, we've submitted a new version of the IPv6-over-15.4
document. As it is now an official WG draft, it has also undergone a name
change:

OLD:
   draft-montenegro-lowpan-ipv6-over-802.15.4-02.txt
NEW:
   draft-ietf-6lowpan-format-00.txt are as follows:

I also wanted to draw your attention to one change in particular:

The LoWPAN encapsulation was modified to allow 11 bits of protocol
type (prot_type field). Because of this, the minimum overhead
grew from 1 octet to 2 octets. This was done in order to allow
more protocol types as the previous format started with a field
only 5 bits wide. Whereas growing it to 7 bits was possible in
the future, this would always entail 2 octets of overhead for the
longer protocol types to be used.

This increase in the protocol_type field was done in response to some feedback
about the previous scheme being very limited, and its extension being
somewhat complicated.
