I would never give advice on the topic, as my insurance will not cover  
it in this case. However, I would offer that because I did not wear  
cleats in the wet grass in Dublin, I have neither played nor refereed  
since the high-ankle sprain I suffered due to slipping on the grass in  
Dublin during our game.

Of course, did I remember to pack my boots? Aargh.

Shin guards? Again, I have only gone to the hospital twice from  
injuries that could have been prevented or mitigated by wearing shin  
guards.

Did I remember to pack my shin guards? Ouch!
