Gentlepeople,
	There have been some questions regarding the provision of network services for the meeting here in Anaheim, and connectivity in the Hilton guest rooms in particular. I've attached the details below, but let me provide a quick summary here:
	
	Wireless in Guest rooms
	----------------------------------
	The ssid "ietf" should be available throughout the Hilton guest rooms and lobby area. This is being provided by the hotel wireless infrastructure, but connects to the IETF network at Layer 2, and thus provides our public IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and uses our higher capacity uplinks. If at all possible, please use this network.

	Wired in  Guest rooms
	-------------------------------
	Each guest room has a wired connection that connects to the Hilton network. This is a standard hotel network, providing IPv4 services only, and using a more limited uplink. Should you experience problems with the IETF network being provided on the ssid "ietf" in your room, you can use the wired connection for free by entering the promo code "SNAAH705103". Please avoid this if possible, as the IETF tends to put a lot of stress on hotel networks, and there are other, non-IETF guests in the hotel. 

	Network in the Meeting Areas
	----------------------------------------
	The traditional IETF networks, with full IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity will be available throughout the meeting space, as provided directly by the IETF.

Terminal Room and Help Desk
------------------------------------------
The Terminal Room is located in room San Simeon AB of the Hilton Anaheim.
A help desk is being provided and will be manned the following hours:
  Monday - 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  Tuesday - 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  Wednesday - 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  Thursday - 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  Friday - 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM
There is one color HP Laserjet CP3525dn printer and one black and white HP Laserjet 4250n printer available that are labeled with their respective IP addresses.

Network Basics
---------------------
The IETF 77 network is connected to the Internet via a 100M Fiber primary link and a backup 50M microwave link. The entire event is addressed out of the 130.129.0.0/16 block for IPv4 and 2001:df8::/32 for IPv6. IPv6 connectivity is native over the primary fiber link, and tunneled to ISC on the backup.

Wireless
------------
An 802.11 a/b/g wireless network is being provided. Areas specifically covered are the meeting rooms and common areas on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors.
To use this network, associate with "ietf" SSID for 802.11a/b/g and "ietf-a-only" for 802.11a. Secure networks are also available with “ietf-sec” and “ietf-sec-a-only”.
The password for the secure network is ietf2010.
There is another unsecured SSID, with no IPv4 service available, for experimentation with IPv6. This SSID is " ietf-ipv6-only ".

The proper operation of the wireless network requires the assistance of all users. One of the most significant issues with wireless performance in past IETF meetings has been wireless clients automatically, or accidentally initiating "ad-hoc" networks that act as the official IETF wireless network, causing other users to associate with false IETF wireless networks. Therefore, please disable your client's ability to create an ad-hoc network and as well as the ability to automatically join an ad-hoc network. If you are using Windows XP or Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5 to manage your wireless client, the instructions to disable creation of ad-hoc networks are listed below. If you are using other systems, please do whatever your particular wireless client management system requires to turn off ad-hoc networks.

Instructions for Mac OS X
	• Open System Preferences -> Network -> Airport -> Options
	• Un-check the box for "Create Computer-to-Computer networks".

Instructions for Windows XP
	• Open Properties -> wireless networks -> advanced
	• select "access point (infrastructure) networks only"
	• unselect "automatically connect to non-preferred networks".

Guest Room Access
----------------------------
Guests can get complimentary wireless access in their guestrooms by connecting to the “ietf” SSID.
When you connect to the wireless infrastructure using the SSID ietf you will be connected to the IETF network and will have all the capabilities of that network, including IPv6 access.
When you connect to the guestroom wired network you will not be using the IETF network at all. This means, in particular, you will not have IPv6 access.

Printing
----------
There is one color HP Laserjet CP3525dn printer and one black and white HP Laserjet 4250n printer located in the Terminal Room; both are available to all IETF users. The printer's names and IPs are:

Instructions for Mac OS X using Bonjour auto-setup (DNS-Based Service Discovery)
	• In the "Print" dialog, select "Add Printer..."
	• Choose "Default" in the top-menu.
	• You should see both printer discovered by Bonjour
	• Enjoy hassle-free printing.

Instructions for Mac OS X using manual configuration
	• Open System Preferences -> Print & Fax -> "+" below printer list
	• Enter “printer4250bw.meeting.ietf.org” in the address field. Leave the Queue field blank.
	• Select the HP Laserjet 4250n driver.
	• Click Add

Instructions for Windows
	• Start -> Printers & Faxes --> Add Printer
	• Select "Connect to a Printer on the Internet"
	• Enter “printer4250bw.meeting.ietf.org” in the address field.
	• Select the HP Laserjet 4250n driver.

Generic *nix Instructions (GUI)
	• Printer Connection Type: Network Printer, TCP/Socket, HP Jet Direct, Raw Connection.
	• Host: " printer4250bw.meeting.ietf.org "
	• Port: 9100 (default)
	• Manufacturer: HP
	• Model: Laserjet 4250n
	• Driver: 4250 (Recommended) (suggested). Click FORWARD.
	• Enter desired "Printer Information" and click APPLY.

Services
------------
The following network services are provided:
	• SMTP - smtp.meeting.ietf.org
	• SMTP - relay services are provided for users on the IETF network.
	• NTP - ntp.meeting.ietf.org
	• Time service is provided via IPv4 and IPv6 unicast.

DNS service is being provided by two servers, 130.129.1.25 (2001:df8:0:1::25) and 130.129.1.26 (2001:df8:0:1::26). The domain name is meeting.ietf.org.
