I had a similar experience on an iPad with iOS 5.1.1 where the app would
crash almost immediately when I opened it.  I was able to get it to stop
crashing by quickly selecting a different day before the crash occurred.
It now opens without crashing.  It worked fine until I entered some
favorites.
