Hi Christer,

> Instead the location information of the Things will be relative to the boat.

Because the objects on the boat is within GPS coordinates,
to uniquely identify the objects on the boat, you need the boat's GPS coordinates.
That's why I think things inherit the location.

Hyunjeong

Hi,

This is why inheritance is important. There should be no need to specify the GPS coordinates for any Things (indoor or outdoor) on the boat, if it can be indicated that they share the GPS coordinates of the boat itself.

Instead the location information of the Things will be relative to the boat.

Regards,

Christer

Hi Ari, Carsten, Christer and all,

Thank you for your opinions.

About the query Carsten raised during the informal meeting on November 8th, regarding the representation method of devices within a ship, I would like to provide you with a response.

Up tp ships, the location can be marked using GPS, while the devices within indoor spaces can be represented using indoor drawings and manual measurements. I hope the following example clarifies this:

    <address>
        <postal>
            <street>303, Jangsaengpo-ro, Nam-gu</street>
            <city>Ulsan</city>
            <region></region>

            <country>Republic of Korea</country>

Christer,
I appreciate your email, and I want to inform you that I am currently preparing a response.
I will get back to you shortly with the required information.

Well, location can also be seen as a property, right?

In the sense of sdfProperty, possibly.

An sdfProperty is an affordance, i.e., it provides interactions on the digital side of the Thing (e.g., you can read it from the Thing).

However, in many cases the Thing will not be aware about its Location.
So we are looking for a way to describe information that may not be available on the digital side of the Thing, but only in a Digital Twin or a management station.

I don’t think we have decided how to model such information.
It could certainly look very similar to sdfProperty affordances.
