   Folks,

Note: The filename is incorrect in this announcement. It should be
draft-crawley-mcast-rout-over-atm-00.txt, .ps ("rout", not "route").

   A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
   directories.

Title : Multicast Routing over ATM
          Author(s) : E. Crawley
          Filename : draft-crawley-mcast-route-over-atm-00.txt, .ps
          Pages : 9
          Date : 02/23/1996

As the use of IP multicasting and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)
technologies increases, it becomes important to think about ways that IP
multicast routing protocols interface to ATM networks. The Multicast
Address Resolution Server (MARS) [1] addresses the problem of determining
group membership within a single ATM Logical IP Subnet (LIS) and provides a
mapping between IP multicast addresses and ATM addresses while [2] looks at
the issues of short cut routing for PIM Sparse Mode and CBT. In this
document, the general problems of IP multicast routing protocols over ATM
networks are explored and the issues related to the different forms of
multicast routing protocols; dense vs. sparse, shared tree vs. source tree,
etc. are addressed. Additionally, the issues related to short cut and QoS
routing are discussed. This document is intended as a starting point for
exploring the issues of IP multicast routing over ATM.

Send a message to: mailserv@ds.internic.net. In the body type:
        "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-crawley-mcast-route-over-atm-00.txt".
    Or
        "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-crawley-mcast-route-over-atm-00.ps".

NOTE: The mail server at ds.internic.net can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e., documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
         how to manipulate these messages.

For questions, please mail to Internet-Drafts@cnri.reston.va.us.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version
   of the Internet-Draft.
