Hi Chairs and WG, Thank you for your work in leading the WG forward and for outlining the priorities towards the Vienna meeting. We agree that making CATS work in practical deployments and improving concrete discussion on the mailing list are important for the next stage of the WG. We would like to briefly share the current status of one of our recent CATS-related drafts: draft-zhangb-cats-service-metrics-opThis draft is intended to address the operational use of service-oriented metrics under the existing CATS framework. It describes how service sites can evaluate and report metrics such as GAS and Computing Time, and how these metrics can be used by CATS functional components to support traffic steering decisions. Our goal is to help make CATS more directly executable in practical deployments, rather than only describing computing metrics at an abstract level. The draft focuses on metric semantics, operational usage, and deployment applicability. It is not intended to define new routing, transport, or signaling protocols. Regarding the operational aspects mentioned in the chairs’ email, we have also completed a preliminary demo implementation to validate the basic workflow. The demo follows the expected CATS operation: service sites provide service-oriented information through C-SMAs, the C-PS combines computing-side information with network information from the C-NMA, and then selects a suitable service contact instance according to the client request and policy. This implementation gives us more confidence in the feasibility of the proposed service-oriented metric operation and can help us further refine the operational considerations in the draft. We plan to present and discuss this work at the Vienna meeting, if the agenda allows. We will also update draft-zhangb-cats-cmas as soon as possible so that it is better aligned with and supportive of the service-metrics-op draft. We will continue improving the draft and actively engaging in the mailing list discussion. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Best regards, Yina
